Pura Bingen Takes Manurewa— Handicapper First Home in

Howick Handicap.

The Auckland Trotting ( lub's February meeting is being finalised at Alexandra Park, Epsom, to-day, in fine, though dull, weather. There is a good attendance and the course is in excellent order. Racing commenced with the Manurcwa Handicap, all the acceptors going to the post, and l'ura Ilingen, Vain and Waskasu were in moet demand. When they were let go Waskasu, Reception and Querida tangled and lost ground, and Colleen Murphy led along the back from Elissa, Pura Bingen and Golden Maid. I'as.sing the stands Colleen Murphy and All Special were on terms, with Pura Bingen, Vain Lad, Golden Maid and Elissa next, but All Special broke just past the judge's box. Vain Lad ran into the lead along the back from l'ura Bingen, Elissa, All Special, Win lluon and Colleen Murphy, with Great Sonoma heading the other*. There was little change crowing the top, where Vain Lad left his feet and Pura Bingen was riifct into the straight, attended by Vain Lad, Win lluon, Great Sonoma and Colleen Murphy, in a tight iiiiieh. l'ura Bingen held on to beat Great Sonoma by a neck, with Win lluon the same dietanee away. Vain Lad was* right up, fourth, followed by Colleen Murphy, Elistvu, ltoi Grande and Reception. Finished Well. There were no defections in the Howick Handicap, in which Accel, Handicapper and Bold Venture had most friends, victory going to Haudicapper, who finished in solid style. Scrap Iron, Bronze Queen, Sequoia and Young Pointer lost ground at the start and Worthy Song led along the back rrom Accel, Winhisway, Kia Kaha, Gold Pointer, Forest Jewel and Bold Venture. Worthy Song was still in command from Accel passing the stand, with Forest Jewel, Kia Kaha, Bold Venture and Hearsay following; then came Scrap Iron and Handicapper. Kia Kaha and Handieapper moved up crossing the top and the order into the straight was Worthy Song, Kia Kaha, Accel, Hearsay and Handicapper, with Bold Venture next. Over the final stages Handicapper finished well to get up and win by threequarters of a length from Worthy Song, who beat Hearsay by a length. Kia Kaha, Bold Venture, Accel, Dainty Lady and Scrap Iron were next.
