N.S.W. PREPARES
Railway Workers to Help in Event of Attack. CO-OPERATE WITH,. MILITARY. (Received I£ noon.) SYDNEY, this day. The New South Wales Railways Department is co-operating with the Defence Department in teaching procedure to be adopted in the event of gas attacks. By the end of 1937 it is expected that nearly 0000 railway employees will be capable of giving skilled assistance to the military in the event of gas attack. The Defence Department is erecting chambers for gas experiments for the army at Randwick and for the Navy at Garden Island. There will be specially sealed rooms in which men wearing masks will be placed while gas is released about them. - Instructors, through sealed windows, will observe the progress of the experiments.
N.S.W. STATE SUBSIDY. LORD NUFFIELD'S £26,000. (Received 12 noon.) SYDNEY, this day. The State Government has decided to supplement Lord Nuffield's gift of £26,000 to New South Wales hospitals on a pound for pound basis.
