GRASS-BLADE WHISTLES.

Many of you have no doubt made a grass-blade whistle with a blade of graes held between your hands. Yon will see the correct way to do It at A in the sketch. Simply place the grass-blade between your palms and thumbs, stretch it tight, and blow upon the edge of the blade.

The same idea is used in the rather more elaborate whistle eliown at the right. Get a short, round length of tree branch (or a piece of pencil will do splendidly), split' it along its length, and cut away the centre of each half as shown at C. Place the glass-blade between the tvvp halves, ami bind the ends together with thread, as at B, keeping the blade as tight as you can.
