WHANGAREI, this day. i eft w f ~etro, from Seders owned by the Whangarei County Council have become prevalent again; and it was reported at yesterday's meeting of the council that the matter had been placed ill the hands of the police. At Waiotu and Oakleigh locks had' been broken. The chairman, Mr. J. A. S. MacKay, said that if machines were left in front of residences it would be easy to keep' a \vat"h on the movements of people and possibly get a conviction. The county clerk said that at Waiotu' a settler had seen someone taking the petrol, but had failed to get the number of the car.
