GERMANS ATTEND ROYAL-LEVEE.

KING'S STATE DRIVE. Nazi Salute Given But No " Heil Hitler." NEW ZEALANDERS PRESENT. United Fress Association. —Copyright. (Received 1 p.m.) LONDON, February 9. , King George VI. made his first State drive in brilliant sunshine to the levee at St. James' Palace. Heavy rain suddenly ceased a few minutes before the King's departure and the sun came out. Hundreds lined the route, despite the uncertainty of the weather. His Majesty wore the uniform of Colonel-in-Chief of the Grenadiers and the blue ribbon of the Garter. Nearly 2000 attended the levee, including the Duke of Gloucester and the Duke of Kent. \ New Zealanders present included Mr. W. J. Jordan, New Zealand High Commissioner, Mr. Walter Nash, New Zealand Finance Minister, and Mr. J. H. Lascelles. Though omitting the words, "Heil Hitler," Herr von Bibbentrop, Ambassador, and 17 members of the German Embassy attending the levee greeted the King with the outstretched arm of the Nazi salute.
