Economic Losses Equal to Cost Of Great War. FARMERS BADLY HIT. (Received 10.30 a.m.) GENEVA, February 9. The total losses to the world economic system from the depression of 1930-34 were between 100 and 120 thousand million gold dollars, equivalent to. the total cost of the Great War, according to a report by the International Labour Office. Industrial countries were not hit so badly as agricultural, and the former were able to preserve a relatively high standard of living. The middle classes were amongst the . heaviest sufferers.
