INFANTILE PARALYSIS.
There was an article in your paper the other evening by Professor Hereu.? commenting adversely on the Government for following medical advice in closing schools, etc., during the epidemic. He is admittedly a man wHo is interested in research into diseases and advocates further and more intensive research into the causes and effects of the infantile paralysis which Is prevalent throughout New Zealand, and yet before those researches have been carried out he lays down the law as to what should be done. It was clearly contradictory to cay, "Do not close the schools, but isolate the patient and his home." If that is not closing the door after the horse is out, what is? He should also realise that it is not the fear of death that parents are afraid of, but it is the fear of seeing their healthy, straight-limbed little one? turned into cripples for life. So I, with countless others, say, "Leave the school* closed." I. K. SKELTON.
