"THE ONLY WAY OUT."
ARBITRATION COURT. SUGGESTED ABOLITION. The view that the abolition of the Arbitration Court will be the only way removing the dissatisfaction which exists in union circles concerning the Court is expressed in "The Borer," the official organ of the Auckland Carpenters and Joiners' Union. "As all members have doubtless heard of the latest pronouncement of Mr. Justice Page, of the Arbitration Court, whterein he stated that under the country clauses of the award overtime beyond the 40-hour week may be worked at a merely nominal rate, and stipulates Id per hour as being sufficient to constitute the overtime rate, we do not think that this matter needs to be laboured," states "The Borer." "We have protested to every Labour M.P. throughout the country* and to every organisation which "we think might be able to help, as well as to the responsible in Wellington, in an endeavotir to have the matter of the Arbitration Court cleared up. but we have already stated, we consider that ultimately its abolition will be the onlv wav out."
