VETERANS' PENSIONS.
REVISION OF PAYMENTS. OUTCOME OF CONFERENCE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association* WELLINGTON, Tuesday. "I think that as a result of my conference with the Returned Soldiers' Association I shall be able to recommend something to the Government that will be acceptable to all concerned," said the Hon. H. T. Armstrong, Minister of Labour, after discussing the payment of allowances and pensions to war veterans with the association executive. Mr. Armstrong said the Labour Department had been paying sustenance to a number of necessitous war veterans from the employment but it had been found that the Pensions Department was deducting a sum in excess of the amount specified under the Allowances Act. The Labour Department had decided that,\after a certain date, the Pensions Department should pay the full amount of the pensions, and the Government would consider whether it was justified in paying anything from the employment fund.
