DRIVER FINED.

CHARGE OF NEGLIGENCE. NORTH ROAD ACCIDENT. A plea of not guilty was made by Eric Bray Adams, who was charged at the Police Court this morning before Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., with negligently driving a truck on the Great North Road. Sub-Inspector Fox said that it would be alleged the defendant kept in front of another lorry that was trying to pass. The driver of the other lorry said that he passed defendant on the road near Kaiwaka and then pulled up to get water for the radiator. When he tried to pass again he was forced into the ditch. The defendant said that lie was not aware of any obstruction to another lorry, and he did not know how the accident occurred. He did not in any way deliberately obstruct the traffic. Mr. McKean said that if there had been a deliberate action he would have cancelled defendant's license. Defendant should have heard the horn of the overtaking vehicle, and lie" should have been expecting vehicles to overtake him. Inhere was no doubt what caused the accident. A fine of £3 and costs was imposed.
