Force bomber, which, with a crew of two, was lost on Wednesday when flying from Melbourne to Tasmania, "was located yesterday about 20 miles 'west of Waratah, Tasmania, in bushy country.
Searchers in an Air Force machine saw tin; bomber lying on its side, apparently badly damaged, and one man lying on the ground about HOO yards away.
A land party reached the 'plane and found Pilot-Officer CI. K. Bnseombe and Sergeant W. H. Gould alive and well beside their wrecked Hawker Demon 'plane in wild and hilly country.
The men had had an amazing escape from death. Their 'plane crashed into the hillside when the pilot was attempting to make a forced landing after the tip of ono wing had struck a tree in fog.
The machine turned upside down and Mr. Buscombe was trapped in the cockpit but escaped with minor injuries. Sergeant Gould was saved by his rubber vest, which he had inflated.
