MEETING OF THE COUNCIL SOtJTH AUCKLAND'S NEW GROUND. INTERNATIONAL BOARD FORMATION. Opening the meeting of the council of the New Zealand Rugby League last evening, the acting-chairman, Mr. E. D. Stallworthy, extended good wishes to members for the new year. Favourable reports were received upon the progress being made with the formation of the new ground at Huntly by the South Auckland Rugby League, which invited an inspection by the council at an early date. It was decided to arrange the visit as soon as possible. Among letters received from the Australian Board of Control was one advising that the English League favourably regarded the creation of an International Board of Control. The proposal was to be advanced at a special meeting of the representatives from England, Australia, France and New Zealand. The chairman said the news that the authorities in England accepted the idea of an International Board, which had been first suggested at# continually advocated by this Dominion for years, was very gratifying. It was pointed out that the English Council evidently contemplated the initial meeting to constitute the board being held during the visit of the Australian team to England this season. Mr. Stallworthy said the International Board would give an impetus to the game by assuring a greater continuity of international tours, including France, and make for uniformity as regards control and interpretation of rules. The secretary, Mr. W. O. Carlaw. recalled the originally intended method of financing the conferences of the board and it was resolved to acknowledge the communication from the Australian Board and to send a copy to the English Council affirming the principle of the International Board and making suggestions for, the first international conference and its future administration. The council decided to meet next month to discuss national policy activities for the season, which may embrace a New Zealand tour to Australia. Mr. R. Doble reported the Auckland Rugby League had fixed its annual meeting for April 5.
