ANNUAL MEETING.
TO-MORROW'S FIELDS.
twelve horses in gup. I REVIEW OF THE PROGRAMMI The annual meeting of tiie Matamat Racing Club wilt be held at Matamata t( morrow, ami if tlie weather is fine som good rating should he witnessed. Tlic field are large and several of llie races bear a open aspect. Betting will be tin tlio wii and place system. The Hurdles. The programme will open with the Tira Hurdles, and as the result of their gooi displajs at Thames Calcutta and Lad. Ruler will have plenty of admirers, an! both should run prominently. Valpeei has been otf the scene for some time am does not appeal. Count Roussillion failot in his last two starts and English Nigh should hold him safe. The latter won ove hurdle* at the Waikato Hunt meeting las October. Spearcourt ran third at Thamei and is. a likely improver. JNiio Lume is i good jumper and will have to be con tide red. Rozel, who is stated to be shaping well, has had no experience, and the sami applies to Keith Lu. The favourites maj be CALCUTTA LADY Kl LEU isl'EA K COURT. A Largs Field. The largest Held of the day is engagec in the lliuuera Handicap, but the majority have little to commend them. Raepats ran second to Bonstar over six furlongs al the Tiik;i|>llll.i meeting, and his prospects look good. J'oker Face and Miss Muske toon iiave liotli been placed previously and are possibilities. Bass is reputed to be Bpecdy, and Miss Lapidary has been shaping nicely in her work at Matamata. Of the others, Clooneen, who has been galloping well at To Awarautu, appeals most. Solid support is likely to come for RAETATA .MISS JMUSKETOOX CLOONEEN. The Sprint Event. Some smart gallopers figure in the Waharoa Handicap, but several of them are engaged later in the day. If started, Royal Dance is sure to go well, as his form at Trenthani was good and he is meeting weaker opposition here. Prince Acre has done no racing for some months and may not be ready. Boughal was placed at Thames, and he is likely to be improved. Lornaere is engaged in a later event, but if started in this race he will be troublesome. Mungacre's third at -the Takapuna meeting will ensure him support. Bellkyrian was in the money at Thames and should show up again. Solaria and Lady Diana read best of the others. In a good betting race the, chief fancies may be, in the absence of Lornaere, ROYAL DANCE MUNGACRE BOUGHAL. The Hack Cup. Sergia, top-weight in the Hack Cup, has shown good form up to a mile, but the distance may trouble her. Respectful is useful and won at his last, start at Ellerslie on Saturday, but Huskie appeals more over the distance. Sunny Downs has previously won beyond a mile and should show up again. Sandy Dix and Racette were in the money at Thames, but Royal Nation should hold them safe. He won at Rotorua in November and is very promising. Roxy and Modern Maid are the most likely to effect a surprise. The public may prefer ROYAL NATION HUSKIE .. • SUNNY DOWNS. The Railway. Gloucester, who heads the list in the Railway Handicap, was a winner earlier in the season and Professional scored twice on the Taranaki circuit during the holidays. Both should go well. Lady Diana is speedy and will not lack support. Gappy failed at the Takapuna meeting, but may go better to-morrow. Bonnie Song ran second at Waipa in December, while Taiaha was in the money at Rotorua in the spring. Racemosus has been galloping well at Te Rapa and will have to be considered. The bulk of the money may come for GLOUCESTER LADY DIANA PROFESSIONAL. Putaruru Stakes. The acceptors in the Putaruru Stakes, a weigh t-for-age event, includes several unknown quantities, among them being seven two-year-olds, who usually show up in a race of this description. Son of the Soil and Kaceline have both been in the money, the former finishing second to Cute Melody at Waikato and the latter third to Airam and Bachelor King at Dargaville. Susan has been placed several times, while Tavern Song shaped well earlier in the season. Awatea Princess and High Spear may be the best of the others. The best prospects may be SON OF THE SOTL RACELINE AWATEA PRINCESS. Walton Handicap. Royal Dance, who has pride of place in the Walton Handi cap, hais an earlier £®pagement, as also have Lornaere, Sergia. •Avinlona and Tin Lap. If reserved, Royal Dance and Lornaere will get plenty of support. Gay Broney and Miss Ln have had plenty of racing and are fit horses, who should run well. Wait and See won this race last year and is not without prospects. Wahine Reihi will be suited by the distance, and also will Winlona. Tuaheahe and Mangukaha should also show up. In the absence of Royal Dance a likely trio may be LORNACRE GAY BRONEY MISS LU. The Final Event. Tho final event of the day is the Okoroire Handicap, in which recent form points to Trouvaille and La Femme Noire being the hardest to beat. Bonnie Song, if reserved, should also show up, and Erina»°n will not be neglected. Racemosus, J alalia and Jewelled Girdle will also command support. The bulk of the money may come for TROUVATLLE LA FEMME NOTRE taiaha. .•"."PPcial train, stopping at the principal tdtinns*, wi)| Ipjiv-p Auckland at 7.55 a.m. and -Newmarket at 7.2 a.m. The acceptances are: — TIRAIJ HACK IJI'HDLKH of £120.
