The Bishop of Aotearoa, the Rt. Be*. F. A. Bennett, is visiting Auckland. Mr. D. C. Fraser -will retain from Wellington by the express to-morrow morn in;;. Mr. R. H. Fryer, of Frankton Junction, lias been appointed postmaster at ,Te Aroha. Mr. E. K. Pitt, chief librarian of th« 'Public Library of Victoria, Melbourne, ■is visiting Wellington. ' Mr. C. H. Burnett, M.P. for Tauranga. arrived in Auckland this morning by train from the South. The Hon. J. Cotter, M.L.C.. was an arrival in Auckland this morning by the New Plymouth express. Tho Hon. W. W. Snodgrass, JLLC, of Nelson, is a visitor to Auckland. He is at the Station Hotel. The Rt. Rev. H. W. Williams, Bishop of Waiapu, arrived in Auckland this morning from Wellington by train. Mr. Charles Rodwell, of Brisbane, formerly of Auckland, arrived by the Wanganella yesterday, and is staying ■with friends at Balmoral. Mr. A. M. Taylor, of Timaru, has been unanimously re-elected president of the Gas Institute of New Zealand. .Surgeon-Commander A. W. Mcßoric, of 11.M.5. Dunedin, returned to Auckland yesterday by the Wanganella after spending his leave in Sydney. Mr. G. H. Munroe, research physicist of the Radio Research Board of Australia, will leave for Sydney by the Wanganella to-morrow night. Mr. A. H. Cockayne, Director-General of Agriculture, wa« a passenger from Sydney by the Maimganui, which arrived in Wellington yesterday. Mr. I. J. Goldstine, Mayor of One Tree Hill, returned to Auckland with his family yesterlay after spending six weeks in Sydney and Melbourne. Mr. Alfred £. Hughes, of Melbourne, formerly of the Colonial Sugar Company's engineering staff, arrived yesterday by the Wanganella on a holiday visit. Mr. D. R. Williams, engineer in charge of the Taupiri drainage scheme for the past four years, ha* been transferred to Paeroa. His successor will be Mr. R. B. Penlington. Mr. William Wallace returned to Auckland this morning by the limited from Wellington, where he attended a meeting of the Hospital Boards' Association of New Zealand. Mr. T. W. Welch, of Te Aroha, Las been admitted a Fellow of the Institute nf Bookkeepers, Finsbury Square, London, and has been appointed examining representative for New Zealand. Mr. Claude Kingston, who will direct the tour in New Zealand of Col. de Uasil's Monte Carlo Russian ballet for Messrs. J. C. Williamson, Limited, wae an arrival by the Wanganella yesterday. Mr. D. F. Reid, London manager of the Bank of New Zealand and formerly manager of the Palmerston North branch, has been elected chairman of The British Overseas Banks' Association for the ensuing year. The Rev. Clyde L. Carr, M.P. for Timaru, president of the New Zealand I-abour party, who represented the flovprnment at the Adelaide centenary celebrations, returned to Wellington by • lie Maiingunui yesterday. Mr. W. J. Gatenby. of Acklaud. hai cvigned the chairmanship of the Auckland District Mortgage Adjustment Com mission, with the consent of the Hon. H. G. R. Mason, in favour of Mr. XI. A. Aldred. of Waiuku. Mr. Gatenby. ■lmvever. will continue to be a member of the c-ommisiion, as its legal representative. Mr. C. R- Alien, of Dunedin. has received advice from the Marquis d<? rhampvans de Faremont, president of the Tnstitut Litteraire de France, that iie has been awarded the silver medal of the institute. The award has been mack in recognition of hie literary work over a number of years, and speci-ik-ally for his several novels published abroad.
