SWIMMING.
OTAHUHU RIVER RACE
With the lifting of the ban on club activities by the Auckland Centre, the Otahuhu Swimming Club has arranged for a full programme for the remainder of the season. The first big effort will be the holding of the annual river swim of one mile and a half for the Tamaki Cup. This will take place at Stringer's Point on the Tamaki Kiver on Sunday morning, February 14. The course is an excellent one, and as about half the distance will be against the* tide,;, the stamina of contestants will be tested,' although there is no risk of rough, water conditions, and the competitors are in full view of the spectators for the entire length. A full series of points meetings for club members ie to be started immediately;,.and the services of two exponents of the art .of diving have been secured, and an' instructive demonstration . will be given at Stringer's Point, probably on Sunday, February 21. : WHANGAREI CLUB. At its weekly club nlsht last evening the Whangarei Swimming Club staged two events over 220 yards, one for men and the other for intermediate boys. Results:— Slen'e 220 Yards. —First heat: D. Haigh ss. 1 : R. Horner, 28s. 2. Second heat: I. Conway, 12s. 1; H. Fidler. 7s, 2 Final • D. Haigh 1, Fidler 2. Haigh swam very well in the- final to win by 10 yards. Intermediate Boys' 220 Yards.
