£100,000,000 MIGRATION LOAN. Press Association.—Copyright. % (Received 12 noon.) LONDON, January 31. Whitehall is considering a gigantic Coronation Year scheme for the Empire, including a loan of £100,000,000. tfhis will embrace migration.
Diplomatic circles believe that the future of the Empire will depend on the next Imperial Conference, at which the scheme will be enunciated.
An expert in Imperial affairs says that Britain must pave the way with gold. and then the Empire can be opened as it should. Mr. Ramsay MacDonald is said to have declared that unless we develop the Empire someone else will.
Against this forecast is the certainty of an increase in income tax for defence expansion, and talk of a loan in addition tor that purpose.
