McGRATH BEATS BROMWICH.

SENSATION IN THE DOUBLES.

SYDNEY, January 31.

Play in the Australian tennis championships continued yesterday. The final of the- men's singles championship was won by Vivian McGrath, who defeated John Bromwich, 6—3, I—6, 6—o, 2—6, 6—l.

In the final of the women's singles Miss N. Wynne (Victoria) beat Miss T. Coyne (New South Wales), 7—5, 4—6, 6—4.

In the final of the women's doubles Miss Coyne and Miss N. Wynne beat Mrs. Westacott (Queensland) and Mrs. Hopman (Victoria), 6—2, 6 —2,

The final of the boys' junior doubles was won by Bromwieh and D. Pails, who beat H. Lindo and J. Gilchrist, 6-4, 5—7, 6—4. Other results: —Men's doubles, semifinal: Bromwich and Harper defeated Crawford and McGrath, 6—3, 6—3. 4—6, 6—4; Quist and Tiirnbull defeated Thompson and Turvey, 6—3, 10—8, 6—2. Mixed doubles, semi-final: Tumbull and Miss Stevenson defeated Lewis and Miss Rice, 6- 3, 6—3; Hopman and Mrs. Hopman defeated Moon and Miss Wynne, 3—6, 6—3, 6-4.

A Davis Cup exhibition match was given. Quist and Schwartz playing and D. Turnbiill. The match was abandoned when the score was 4—6, 6 —3, 10 all.
