AIR INQUIRY OPENS.
CLUB OFFICIAL CRITICISED.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
WANGANUI, Sunday.
An inquiry was opened at Wanganui yesterday into the recent forced landing in the Kaimanawa Ranges of a Moth aeroplane piloted by Mr. Wilson Potaka, who was accompanied by a passenger. The pilot was unable to be present, but a report on the flight and forced landing was received from him. As the inquiry could not proceed without him. it was decided to adjourn the meeting after reports had been tabled and several theories advanced as to the cause of the forced landing had been discussed.
The action of the club instructor in making a statement to the Press, in which he advanced a theory regarding the cause of the forced landing, was criticised by the president of the Federated Clubs, Mr. A. S. Burgess, who expressed the opinion that it constituted a grave breach of discipline.
