DAMAGE TO WICKETS.
POSITION AT PAPATOETOE.
It was reported at the meeting of the Papatoetoe Town Board last evening that damage had been caused to the cricket pitches on the Recreation Reserve through matches of the Auckland Cricket Association being played in' unsuitable weather conditions. Mr. J. Franklin, chairman of the reserves committee, stated that the ground caretaker reported games had been played last Saturday week when practically all fixtures in the city had been postponed, and that the pitches on the board's raserve, where several games had been played, were considerably damaged. The chairman, Mr. W. J. Nicholson, said the onus of declaring the grounds unplayable rested with, by arrangement, a committee of the Auckland Cricket Association, on the understanding that any damage would have to be paid for.
