TRAGIC SCOW WRECK.

FOUR DROWNED IN GULF. TWO SURVIVORS FROM RANGI. TEN-MILE PULL IN LITTLE DINGHY. Four men are believed to have lost their lives when the scow Rangi foundered off Rakino Island, at the eastern entrance to the Hauraki Gulf, during the height of the storm last evening. Details are:— i Charlie De Faire, ship's cook, aged 64, drowned. Captain P. Petersen, master of the scow, aged 54, of 4, Greenfield Road, Epsom, missing. Harold Helgeson, aged 34, of 104, Nelson Street, City, missing. A boy named William, making his first trip, missing. Two members of the crew were saved. They are: Donald William Woodroffe, a Grammar School boy. aged 14, who lives with his father at 675, Manukau ■ Road, Epsom. John Mason, 21, of 681, Manukau Road, Epsom. crew abandoned the vessel when she heeled over and drifted in a dinghy to about a nyle and a half off Torbay, Deep Creek. There the dinghy swamped. Mason managed to cling to the boat and was washed ashore. The boy Woodroffe was apparently washed ashore in an unconscious condition.
