At a .meeting" of the; Hinnera Co-opera-tive ,: Dairy' -Company' the suppliers rejected a ■suggestion! that the company amalgamate wi'th 'th'c Xew Zealand Co-operative .--liry Company, Ltd. Air. West gave a detailed report-of proceedings during : the past! few weeks, And explained that the suggestion to amalgamate -had been- raised by the Executive Commission of Agriculture when the Hiuucra directors had attended in - connection - with 'a 'proposal -to erect a ! dairy factory at Tirmi. However, the j terms, offered were not acceptable to the 'directors.' They ware not as:good, as the previous terms which had been offered when amalgamation -had been suggested a few years ago:'- ■•' The proposal, of some suppliers to switch over to sheep,had caused concern to the diroc- . tor*. Messrs. If. McKeiizie.. (chairman) and C.'.l. Piirhiue (managing director), of the'Xew Zealand " Co-operative Dairy Company,, were invited into* the meeting to answer questions. Eventually it was decided unanimously that the "proposii" to amalgamate lie rejected and that th: Hinuera Dairy.. Company and factory 'retain their independent status.
