He had a». fairly. . restful night. ■•. ' / . ■ • ■';. \ A disquieting feature is that painful varicose ulcers have formed on both legs. The entourage -is withholding current news from his Holiness, as reports of strife and bloodshed distress him.
Despite a temporary recurrence of pain in the left leg, the Pope improved in the evening, but was very tired. He flatly refused to submit to a consultation by his doctors, saying.he was all right and did not want- to be bothered.
