They sold readily at firm late rates, ranging up to 32/ per 1001b for .extra choice ox. Best light-weight cattle were in particularly keen demand and j values were inclined to harden. i .The quality was good all round, the best of the steers being two lines from Karaka. One lot forwarded by Mr. E. lA. .Lirqnhart made from £11 15/ to £It and the other from Mr. R. Harlcness sold between £11 and £13 10/. The latter grazier ako fold a choice line of eight heifers, realising up to £10, but Messrs. and Ernest. Whakatane. the cow market, making up to £10 2/6 for extra heavy cattle. Our yarding of beef was an average one There was a ready demand, and choice light-weight cattle were verv firm, with values inclined to harden. Heavyweignte sold at late rates. Beef.—Our yarding totalled 109 head of beef, comprising 16 steers and 153 cows and heifers, against 243 head at our Christinas sale. The quality of the offering was good, and we had a keen sale at vaiues ■ firmer than at last report- We did not yard any extra heavy bullocks. Extra choice ox sold to 32/ per 1001b; choice and prime, 29/ to 31/; secondary aed plain. 26/ to 28/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 29/ to 31/: secondary, 23/ to 28/.
