ROMA* REMAINS UXEARTHED. CAIRO. Tourists visiting the Sphinx recently were spectators of the actual discovery •f a Soman skeleton. The remains, encased in earthenware jars, were unearthed near the spot where the granite Stela (tablet) of the 18th Dynasty was discovered not long ago. The present discovery confirm* that the Sphinx, which a few years ago Was cleared of the sand which covaved it as far as the neck, had rcmpined thus buried since the time of Ithe Ptolemies, when this; operation was last performed. New light was thrown on the mystery of the Great Sphinx of Gizeh by the discovery of the. Stela, which bears an inscription referring to the Sphinx as a monument to Ea, the Sun God. ■
