DOMAIN MATCHES.

BRIGHT ONE-DAY GAMES. PONSONBY SAVE POINTS. BRIXTON SHOCK ROSKILL. In the City and Suburban Association fourth series at the Domain yesterday the games were decided on the one-day principle, four-point wins going to Manukau, R.V. and Roskill. Manukau declared with 176 for seven wickets in reply to the 71 total of Ponsonby, who made a fighting finish of it to avoid an innings defeat just ten minutes before time, stumps being drawn shortly after, with Ponsonby 117 runs for seven wickets. Manukau might have been wiser to declare earlier for what, at the luncheon adjournment, looked like maximum points for them. Ward and Reid, who dug in at a critical period to score 17 each, unbeaten, preceded by Hook and Hebden in the first partnership, played the right style of game for Ponsonby in the, circumstances.

Fine early batting by Kerr and Barnes for Green Lane pointed to a chance of overtaking R.V.'s 199, but effective bowling by Finlayson and Wildman upset calculations, and the side was out with 53 mns short at 6.10 p.m.

Though RosTcill declared with 217 runs for four ivickete, Brixton made a gallant effort to play out time and force a draw, Stalhvorthy (24) and Deightou (16) holding the fort from 5.55 p.m. Against a very anxious attack, they batted steadily, but a minute before the bell the veteran was caught near the boundary. The finish was quite thrilling. Competition table: — Won Ist Lost Ist Ch. Played. Innings. Innings. Pts.
