CITY INSURANCES. TO STATE FIRE OFFICE. OVER £500.000 INVOLVED. , The Auckland City Council lias transferred its. insurances for fidelity, plate glass, fire ami motors to the State Fire and Accident Office. The total amount of coverage is £528,805 6/4, which in one of the largest risks ill the Dominion. Previously it lias been a pooled risk, the insurances under the particular headings being spread among .'iO insurance companies, including the State Office. At tlie' last meeting of the council the finance committee presented a report recommending that the insurances be placed with the State Fire Insurance i Department as from December 1,. and the matter was left in the bands of the committee with power to act. The decision has been officially communicated to the State Fire Office, cover for the large amount involved has j been issued and a schedule of the insurances is awaited. The greater portion of the coverage is for fire risk, as it has been the case in the past. The council carries its | own insurance for accident.
