AWARD CLAIM ADJOURNED (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON", this day. _ A claim by the New Zealand Journalists' Association for an award governing the daily newspapers in the niair centres was heard in the Arbitration Court to-day. The main points in dispute were said to be hours of work wages, and the grading of reporters. The applicants sought a 40-hour week and the employers proposed 40 hours foi reporters and 44 for sub-editors, readers revisers and copyholders. The wages claimed ranged from £10 to £5 15/ foi reporters, with. £2 for cadets, and £( 10/ for readers, with £1 extra for chie readers, grading down to £1 5/ foi first-year day copyholders. The presentation of the association' case was not completed to-day, and tin hearing was adjourned sine die.
