The Government, banking and insurance divisions contained nothing of note. Meat shares were steadier, and breweries a held close to yesterday's rates. _i British Tobaccos moved up to buyers at j 45/6, with sellers at 2d above, while J Broken Hill finished at yesterday's price of 81/6, the market closing Id either side . of this figure. Dunlops, Electrolytic Zincs, 'j Howard Smith and Hume 'Pipe also were firm, but Wilepx, Moft'lin dropped 3d to » 11/8. . > New Zealand company shares again had J a good inquiry. Shillings were wanted at } 21/, with no sellers. Woolworths had wide r, quotations between £5 19/ and £6 14/. In mining dividend announcements from Argo and Alexander made little difference to quotations. Lyells advanced further to 5 37/, sellers remaining at that price, with '■> buyers Id below.
