ON 'CHANGE.

QUIET THIS MORNING. MILNE AND CHOYCE FIRMER. BANK OF NEW ZEALAND WEAK. Following a busy period yesterday afternoon the Auckland Stock Exchange was much quieter this morning, and only a fewBales were recorded at the first call of the day. In the banking section New Z'ealands were again weak, with sellers at £2 1/6 and no buyers. New South Wales were again on offer at £34 5/, and a buyer moved up to £34. South British shares were firm, with buyers at £4 11/, and no sellers. Dalgetys were firmer, with quotations from £10 7/6 to £10 15/. Gas shares improved, and following a sale yesterday afternoon at £2 1/6 the market lay between £12/ and £1 3/. The brewery section was in demand, with buyers for New Zealands at £2 12/9, for Staples' at £1 16/, and for Tooth's at £2 13/6, while Dominions were again neglected. Milne and Choyce shares were firmer, buyers advancing to 16/6 without interesting holders. The debenture stock was quoted between 16/ and 16/6. M.K. Millinery shares had a market from £2 2/6 to £2 12/6. In Australian issues moderate changes were recorded. G. J. Coles were unchanged with business at £4 10/3, and Woolworths (Sydney) sold from £7 14/9 to £7 15/, a rise of a shilling. Broken Hills and Australian Glass were steady, with buyers at £4 and £4 10/ respectively. Government stocks had a few more buyers at about late rates. Brighter At Noon. Orders came more freely as the morning proceeded, and a good list of sales was finalised at the noon call. These included two parcels of Government bonds and stocks, both of 1952-55 dates, and in each case a reduction followed the present market trend. Standard Insurances are usually firmly held, and had their first sale since July, a vendor accepting at £2 19/6, a reduction of 2/6.
