TIMARU HOMES PRAISED.
MR. J. A. LEE IMPRESSED
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) TIMARU, Wednesday. In probably no city in Xew Zealand "would one find such a great variety of well-constructed houses of brick veneer on a concrete foundation as were to be found in Timaru, said Mr. J. A. Lee, Parliamentary Under-Secretary in charge of housing, when visiting Timaru today. He could not help being impressed 'by the fact that Timaru appeared to be engaging in a sounder type of construction than obtained in any other town. Since it was the intention of the Ministry of Housing to utilise brick veneer, with a concrete foundation in the construction of houses under the State scheme, but with a tiled roof rather than tin, it would be understood how pleased he was with what he had seen in Timaru, said Mr. Lee. He would not say that he had been examining prospective sites, but his attention had been drawn to some exceptionally fine sites owned by the Crown ill Timaru:
