! HARBOUR BOARD'S PROTEST. j "BLUFF IS NOT A PORT AT ALL." (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, Tuesday. The Bluff Harbour Board to-night decided to write to the head office of the Shaw, SavilJ'and Albion Company expressing strong disapproval of remarks attributed to Captain A. R. Char man, marine superintendent of the company for the South Island, reflecting on the port of Bluff. The board also requested i that the remarks be withdrawn, as they were declared by the board to be erroneous and misleading. Jt was stated at the meeting that Captain Chairman had said at a meeting of the Timaru Harbour Board that there j was no port in the South Island better j adapted as a jumping off place for tour11st liners than Timaru, "You take j Lunedin/' he was reported to have said. ."You could not get those ships in there, j and Bluff is not a port at all,"
