WANGANUI GALLOPS.
SPIRAL RECOVERED. ENTAIL AND IMPOSTURE. (Special to " Star.") WA NG A NUT, Tuesday. W Rayner this morning gave Icing and Scarf Dance their first fast spin, since they resumed work, when l-hey were sprinted three furlongs. Both fillies hit out nicely anil ran the distance comfortably in 38s. Scarf Dance has made a better recovery from her cold than icing, but the latter is practicaly free ot her cough now and should be forward enough to race at Awapuni. It is not to be expected that either will be at their very best again after such a lengthy spell until later on. However, all going well, Icing should prove in the autumn that she is well up to the best of her age, and Scart Dance is also likely to prove above the ordinary, as they are two very nice fillies. Entail had Imposture as a companion in a spin over Imlf a mile this morning and they cut the distance out in 50 l-5s without being extended, running the hist furlong in 12s and the two in a shade under 2os. Imposture proved troublesome at the barrier both at Trentham and at Feilding, but if she quietens down the Posterity filly will win a race or two before the season expires. Entail has not raced since Trentham and has built up a good deal in the meantime. The son of Posterity should be suited by the roomy Awapuni course and his undoubted speed should make him very hard to beat. Spiral was given a run over seven furlongs, which he left behind in 1.32, going very comfortably all the way. His second to Tiger Gain on the first day at Feilding was gained in a fashion that points to .him as likely to run a big race in the Manawatu Cup. if reasonably weighted. The lameness which showed itself after his race appears to have been thrown off. H. W. Johnston has Parikino in work again, the Kiosk gelding having got over the cold which put him out of action for some weeks. Mr. F. Bristol intends to race Airing and Sanhedrin at New Plymouth at Christmas.' They have had a let-up since the Feilding meeting and this appears to have done both of them good. With the racing they have had they should be. in excellent order for the holiday meetings. Mr. L.. O. Paul has Colenso in steady work. This gelding is to race at Awapuni, all going, well, his engagements including the Champion Hack Handicap.
