WELFARE LEAGUE.
A PAPAKURA SOCIAL. The executive committee of the Papakura Social Welfare League met yesterday. Mrs. D. J. Graham presided, and also present were Mesdames J. R- Wilson, G. W. Lock, W. Linden, J. Jarvie, R. East, E. Busing (secretary), and Miss M. Cooker. The treasurer reported a crrfit balance of just over £50. The New Zealand Crippled Children's Society, Auckland branch, sent a letter conveying its approval of the league becoming the local auxiliary committee for the Auckland branch. Letters of thanks were received from 'many aged people in the district for wood and coal supplied during the winter. The committee reported that they had visited nearly 40 families with a view to sending children to the Sunshine camp during the holidays. Arrangements were finalised for the distribution of the usual Christmas parcels.
