Sullivan, announces that the Government has set up a special committee to go into the question of the cost of production of wheat in order that reliable data may be secured to enable the Government to decide upon fixed prices for the coming harvest and future harvests. The committee will comprise: Mr. J. S. Barton, S.M. (chairman), Dr. Weston (Lincoln College), Mr. D. O. Williams (Massey Agricultural College), Mr. A. Grant ("a Waimate wheatgrower and a member of the Wheat Committee), Air. H. Worrall (flourmiller, of Christcliurch), and Air. C. S. Sapsford (district officer of the Department of Industries and Commerce, Christcliurch). It is expected that the committee will commence its sittings at Oamaru on December 9, and proceed from there to Timaru and Asliburton, thence to Christcliurch, where the final sittings will be held prior to a report upon its findings and recommendations being submitted to the Government.
