DEATH OF MAGNUS.
STONYHURST SIRE DESTROYED. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The Stonyhurst Stud suffered a loss a few days ago, when the imported stallion Magnus was destroyed after having a leir broken when kicked by Ball Dress. He was bred by Mr. J. B. Joel in 102"2, being by Tlie Tetrarch from the One Ihousand Guineas winner Princess Dorrie, a halfBister to the Derby winner Sunstar Ihe racing career of Magnus was brief, but he won a mile race at Newmarket, lie had been at the Stonyhurst Stud four seasons, and so far the only one of his progeny at Riccarton is Great Ramble, a. two-year-old filly from Brambletye, now in the early stages of her education.
