SALVAGE AWARD. Mr. Justice Buckuill, in the Admiralty Court at London on November IS, awarded £11,750 salvage to the master and crew of the steamship Nestor. The award was apportioned as follows: Owners, £8000; master. £1000: officers and crew, according to ratings, £2750. The Blue Funnel steamer Nestor, whilst bound from Melbourne to the United Kingilom on June 22 last, received an S.O.S. from the A.U.S.N. Company's steamer Mungana, which had bent her propeller i shaft and had her engine thrust carried 1 away when about 200 miles from Port , Adelaide. The Nestor answered the signals immediately and was quickly ou Captain Power, of the Nestor, used up t : all tiie rockets in endeavouring to get a | line aboard the helpless Mungana. «<>«• | withstanding the heavy seas and the blind- I ing rain squalls, the captain of the Nestor. | by daring navigation, brou't'it his vessel | close in to the Mungana. when fortunately | the second-last rocket left on that vessel | carried a line to the Blue Funnel steamer and the Mungana was taken in tow in the very nick of time.
