"MIGHTY ATOM."

ADVERTISING NEW ZEALAND. AT PRESENT VISITING AUCKLAND. Known in many parts of the world as a vigorous propagandist on behalf of c\% Zealand, Mr. E. Tomlinson, called the mighty atom," is visiting Auckland. The "atom," who can be scarcely sft in height, has with his wife presented the case for the Dominion to potential tourists in all parts of the world, and in making more widely known our country's too little appreciated beauty, has done much in familiarising overseas tourists with the attractions of this country. ... i Mr. Tomlinson, whose aim is to advertise New Zealand, while making a living for himself, is not connected with the Government. He has spent 50 years of his life in the photography business, and has shown about 100,000 ft of movie film, together with hundreds of separate pictures, throughout the world. He was the first to introduce shop displays as a means of attracting tourists, and has arranged such displays in some of the large hotels in the U.S.A., while in schools and colleges in that country, and on the Continent, he has given lectures and publicity programmes with his films to large audiences. . Mr. Tomlinson's collection of pictures of the life and habits of the Maori would be hard to equal in this country, and is extremely useful abroad, where there is a keen desire to learn more about our brown-skinned race. During his next trip abroad, which will be to Australia for the centenary celebrations of New South Wales in 1938, Mr. Tomlinson will carry on his work, and expects to attract more tourists across the Tasman. He has recently been exhibiting at the Palmerston Show and the Wanganui Agricultural Show.
