GOVERNMENT RESPONSIBILITY British Official Wireless. (Received 0.30 a.m.) RUGBY, December 1. In the House of Commons the business yesterday was the committee stage of the Government's Trunk Roads Bill. The object of this is to transfer from existing local authorities to the Minister of Transport liability for maintenance, repair and improvement of 4500 miles of roads constituting a national system of routes for through traffic. The annual cost of upkeep of these roads is estimated at £1,065,000.
