TO MARRY HER FIFTH
PEGGY THE ACTRESS. A GOOD LUCK KISS. NEW FIANCE WEALTHY PROFESSOR, \ LONDON, November 14. Miss Peggy Hopkins Joyce, 41-year-old actress and four times the wife of millionaires, says she is to marry again. Her future husband, is Mr. Vivian Jackson, Ph.D., 30-year-okl professor ,in astro-phvsics at London University. The first hint of the romance leaked out at Hawthorn Hill races, where Miss Joyce's horse, Russet, was ridden by Mr. Jackson. Miss Joyce, wearing jodhpurs and £2(>,r>oo worth of jewellery on two fingers, kissed him good luck before he mounted. Spectators cheered as they embraced, a £20,000 diamond ring flashing from Miss Joyce's right hand, a £0500 sapphire ring—Mr. Jackson's "engagement" gift —glowing on her left. Then the professor kissed Russet. He had given her the horse. It is his favourite. Riding is a hobby of his. Russet finished last, but that did not prevent Miss Joyce from giving Mr. Jackson another embrace when lie returned to the paddock. The professor, who is a wealthy man, said: "I met Miss Joyce in the Berfceley Hotel. Her trainer, Mr. Dick Warden, introduced us after we had been looking at each other for some time. We both love horses. That is what set us going. Now I am expecting divorce proceedings against me. About Christmas time Miss Joyce and I will go to United States. Later we shall come back here. We have another horse—it belongs to Miss Joyce now—which we hope to run in the Grand National."
