Mr. James Fletcher will leave to-night by the Limited for Wellington. Mr. C. J. Tunks will leave this afternoon by train for Wellington. Mr. J. E. Lovelock arrived from Rotorua" yesterday and is a guest at the Grand Hotel. Sir Donald MeGavin, of Wellington, who has been visiting Auckland, will return to-night by train. Mr. C. I. Nathan, of Auckland, will arrive in Wellington by the Rangitane from London on December 10. Sir Carriek Robertson returned to Auckland this morning, after making the round trip 011 the Matua. The Rev. S. Nicholls, of Milton, Otago, has arrived in Hamilton to supply St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church this month. Major P. K. Kerr-Smiley, an annua! visitor to New Zealand for the fishing season, will arrive by the Kangitane 011 December 10. Mr. and Mrs. H. Prins, of Johannesburg, arrived on a holiday visit to New Zealand by the Wanganella from Sydney this morning. Mr. E. C. Glen, of the Onohunga Methodist Church, has been appointed organist and choirmaster at the Somervell Presbyterian Church, Remuera. Captain R. C. Hammond, general manager of the Northern Steamship Company, Limited, will leave to-night by the Limited for Wellington. Sir Charles Campbell will arrive at Wellington 011 December 10 by the Kangitane, and will visit several Canterbury families to whom he is related. Sir. V. H. Dearsly, of Upland Road, Rernuera, ajcompanied by Mrs. Dearslev and their daughter, returned by the Wanganella this morning after an extended tour of Great Britain. Mr. J. B. Morgan, managing director of the Nightingale Supply Co., Ltd., of Sydney, arrived by the Wanganella on a short business trip to New Zealand. Mr. C. P. Warren, general manager in Australia and New Zealand of the Prudential Assurance Company, Limited, lias arrived in Wellington on a business visit. Mr. A. Schaafhausen, of the Public Works Department, Apia, arrived today by the Matua 011 a vacation trip to the Dominion. He is accompanied by Mrs. Schaafhausen. Mr. G. C. W. Reid, managing director of Reid New Zealand Rubber Mills, Ltd., arrived by the Wanganella this morning after a short business trip to Melbourne and Sydney. Mr. J. J. W. Pollard, who until about a year ago was editor of the "Southland Times," Invercargill, has been appointed the first director of the South' Islands Travel Association.
Mr. H. White-Wiekham, of London, the well-known .fisherman, will arrive at Wellington on the Rangitane on December 1(5, to spend the summer big game fishing at the Bay ot Islands. Mr. C. W. Wykes, of the staff of the Ilealtli Department, was appointed to the position of sani«tary inspector at Northcote at a meeting of the local Borough Council last evening. General Sir Norman MacMullen, General Officer commanding the Eastern Command in India, will be a visitor to New Zealand on the Rangitane, due to arrive at Wellington on December 16. Mr. M. G. Harros, of the district traffic manager's office of the Railways Department, Frankton Junction has been transferred to Otahuhu. His successor is Mr. W. Mauriooho, of Auckland.
Mr. L. McDonald Webb, managing director of Neon Signs, Australasia, Limited (Sydney) and Rayneon (New Zealand), Limited, arrived in Auckland on a short business trip by the Wanganella this morning. Wing Commander the Hon. R. A. Cochrane, who is to advise the New Zealand Government on air defence, has been staying with Air Marshal Sir Robert Ciark-Hall, at his home in Christcliurch. He left Christchurcli today.
Mr. Arved A. Kurtz, violinist and professor of music at the Adelaide University, who is under contract to the New Zealand Broadcasting Board to give a series of recitals throughout the Dominion, has arrived in New Zealand. Mr. Leo Whittaker, of Auckland, will be his accompanist. Lord Balfour of Burleigh, says a Press Association message from Wellington, left London by air to-day for Australia, and hopes to reach Wellington on December 21. With Sir Thomas Wilford, he is a director of the National Bank of New Zealand in London.
The Hon. W. G. Bagnall, Minister of Finance, and Comptroller of Customs at Tonga, arrived this morning by the Matua, with his wife and son. He will spend a few days in Auckland with his sister, Mrs. Dane Allen, of Cheltenham, and will leave next Wednesday by the Awatea for Sydney. Colonel Robert Walker-Roylance has been appointed chairman of Lloyd's for 1937, according to cabled advice received. Colonel Walker-Roylance has been for some years a leading underwriter, and a member of the voluntary committee appointed by 'members to supervise affairs of the organisation.
