"GREAT HELP TO PARTY."

A WELLINGTON TRIBUTE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Mr. C. H. Weston, chairman of the national executive of the National party, said to-day: "We all very much regret Sir George's decision as he has been a great help to the party, and has endeared. himself personally to all of us. As to the immediate cause of his resignation, that is a matter which concerns the Auckland division of the National party only. I understand from a telephone conversation with Mr. Lisle Alderton, chairman of the Auckland division, that ho proposes to make a statement on the matter. ■ So far as the other three divisions of the party are concerned their expressions of opinion in regard to the selection of a leader have been quite favourable to Mr. Hamilton."
