RADIO VOTE.

LISTENERS' VIEWS.

TASTES OUTLINED

DOMINION QUESTIONNAIRE

OVERSEAS ARTISTS WANTED. Of the 170,000 questionnaire forms handed to holders of radio licenses early this year, SO.OOO, or 45 per cent, have been filled in and returned, and information they contained summarised. It is so long since the forms were issued that many of those who filled them in thought that they had been pigeonholed and forgotten, but a tremendous amount of work was entailed in reducing the data to statistical form. Some interesting indications of listeners' preferences and prejudices were obtained by means of the questionnaire. A summary of the conclusions reached by the classification of listeners' replies has been issued by the National Broadcasting Service. The first question on the form asked which of the eight national stations listeners could receive satisfactorily. The replies indicate that 65,202 receive IYA satisfactorily, 64,114 receive 2YA satisfactorily, 64,794 receive 3YA satisfactorily, ■61,828 receive 4YA satisfactorily. The second question sought information as to the number of licensees who are members of radio or listeners' clubs. The replies show that 8 per cent of voters are members of such clubs. Licensees in the third question were asked to indicate the order of the nights of the week on Which they listened most frequently. The following figxires show the first preference voting:—Monday, 30,788; Tuesday, 26,310; 25,908; Sunday, 22.348; Wednesday, 17,505; Thursday, 17,792; Friday,-15,062. Order of Preference. In response to the question as to the order of the preference of licensees for overseas artists, local artists and recordings, the following votes were recorded:— ; First. Second. Third.
