HARBOUR BRIDGE.

'northcote borough view. government support urged. The Nortlicote Borough Council is stron"lv of opinion that the Government should "consider favourably the offer at present before the Government to build the harbour bridge. A letter is to be t;olit to the Prime Minister, the Right Hon. if. J. Savage, stating that view. Speakers at last night's meeting of the council also urged that efforts should be made to secure unanimity of action by all sections of the northern and Auckland citizens. . Though there was a fairly full discussion last night, all the council members expressed the >safne opinion—the opinion, in fact, that lias been held in the borough since the bridge was first mooted. The Mayor, Mr. R. Martin, said that an expression had been given on behalf of the local bodies on the northern side of the harbour as far north as Rodney and Warkworth that the Government should undertake the work as part of a national highway. Earlier in the evening, when discussing a meeting with the Devonport Ferry Company regarding an alteration in the time-table, Mr. A. Facer said the only thing for Xortlicote to do was to work as hard as possible for the bridge. In that way only would satisfactory transport be secured.
