| TO-DAY IN CHRISTCHURCH. | ACTIVE MORNING CALL. RISE IN WOOLWORTHS. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. A fair volume of business was transacted on Exchange at the morning call. Woolworths' issues reached a new high level, and Australian securities were in demand in most cases at a reduced price. , In local body debentures Christchureh Tramway Board (414 per cent, 1/8/45) had business after a long absence from the sales list, changing hands at £104 10/. The only transaction in the banking section was a sale of Commercial of Australia at 19/1, Id better than the previous sales of the week. New Zealand Refrigerating (10/ paid) appreciated by 2d, to 9/5, the market closing with buyers at 9/5 and sellers 9/6. Among Australian securities Broken Hill Proprietary dropped by 2/3, with a sale at £4 1/9, buyers then retiring to £4 1/3 and sellers asking £4 8/. Electrolytic Zincs lost 5d on recent sales at £2 8/7, ,the market closing between £2 8/6 and £2 8/8. G. J. Coles advanced 2d, to a sale at £3 18/, and Hume Pipes maintained their position with sales at £1 2/. Wilcox, Moft'lin lost Id, with a sale at 11/10, and a sale of Shillings, Ltd., took place at 17/. lower by 1/4 than the sale on Monday. In the unlisted section Woolworths again held most of the interest, and Sydney ordinaries touchcd the new high level of £7 1/3, better by 1/ than yesterday's sales. The market closed, buyers £7 0/9 and sellers £7 1/. National Tobaccos were again on the sales list, the first time for some weeks, selling at £3 0/9, a decrease of 2/3.
