SCENIC DRIVE.

WAITAKERE RIDGE.

EXCELLENT PROGRESS MADE

FILTER STATION CUTTING.

Excellent progress has already been made with the construction of the Waitakere Scenic Drive, the first sod of which was turned by the GovernorGeneral, Lord'Galway, on October 9.

Several gangs of men are engaged widening Exhibition Drive at Titirangi, and also the road through Kaurilands, where previously native busli presented rather a formidable front. At the end

of this section of the road a clearing lias been made for about a quarter of a mile through the bush.

A good deal of work has also been done in the vicinity of the filter station, a big cutting having been made for the deviation of the road to where it will eventually link up th e whole system along the ridge of the Waitakeres.

The undertaking will cost £93,000, and of this the Government will provide £78,.500. It is cxpected that the road will be completed within two years.
