j FIJI MINING. EMPEROR'S FIRST YEAR. Smith, expressed in his speech at the company's first annual meeting, held in Sydney on November 4. Operations for the year, said the chairman, had been entirely satisfactory. With tiie installation of larger plant, and much larger crushing*, lie expected costs to be reduced still further. Finances were healthy and the outlook favourable for a long, uninterrupted run of dividends once the large, mill was operating. The directors' report and balance-sheet were adopted and the retiring directors re-elected. LOLOMA ANNUAL MEETING. The first year's operations of the Loloma (Fiji) Gold Mines'were described as very satisfactory by the chairman, Mr. P. F. Cody, speaking at the annual meeting in Melbourne on November 1(5. Excavations and foundation work, he said, are now well in hand, and the construction of plant in Australia is according to schedule. The plant to treat 500 tons of ore a week, he said, is expected to be in operation next June. The finances of the company, continued the chairman, are very sound. YIELDS OF COMPANIES.
