The Auckland military meeting open e ( l ;it Penrose on Saturday and the first nam of tlie programme was completed according to, schedule, although in the attciiioon scattered showers interfered with some of the teams. Entries again showtil an increase, and the standard of shooting in all matches was far better than that shown last year.

Cadet R. A. Metcalfe, of the Mount Albert Grammar School, won the championship-very easily from bergeant -t>. I Pounsett, of the Auckland Grammai School, Corporal V. Dromgool and LanceCorporal A. X. Wadmun, from the same unit, being bracketed third, one point away. The machine gun matches were well distributed among the units competing, although the two Vickers gun shoots won bv the Auckland Regiment.
