WHITEBAIT SEASON.

OFFICIAL CLOSING TO-MORROW. The whitebait season will officially close to-morrow, and no further supplies will be available for the Auckland market. The season is described as having been a very poor one all round with supplies spasmodic and irregular. Most of the whitebait for the Auckland market came from the lower reaches of the Waikato River. There was very little from the Maketu and Matata districts in the Bay of Plenty, which in normal seasons contribute considerably to the supply.
