AWATEA DUE MONDAY MORNING

The Matson liner Monterey arrived at 7 o'clock this morning from Sydney, en route to San Francisco. She had 10passengers for Auckland, in addition to through passengers for Suva, Pago Pago, Honolulu, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The steamer resumed her voyage very shortly after 1 p.m. Owing to the shipping strike on the Pacific and Atlantic seaboard of the United States this vessel may not be able to proceed beyond Honolulu, the first American port touched at, unless matters in dispute are settled in the meantime. llie motor ship Hallingdal, 3180 tons, arrived this morning from Tampico, Gulf of Mexico, with a cargo of asphalt. She also discharges at Gisborne, Napiei, Wellington, Dunedin, BlutT and 2se\v Plymouth. The Union Company's express passenger liner Awatea is due at S a.m. 011 Monday from Sydney. She sails at 5 p.m. 011 Tuesday for Sydney direct. Kauri, the Union Company s new motor ship of 2500 tons, airived this morning from Glasgow, via Capetown, South Australia and Melbourne. She leaves for Portland on Monday. (U.S.S. Co.) Waipiata was delayed in her departure for Southern ports and sailed tills afternoon for Wellington. (U.S.S. Co.)
