SHIPPING NEWS.

MATAROA ARRIVED. wanganella sailing. NIAGARA AND AWATEA DUE ON MONDAY. i The Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Mataroa, 12,333 tons, in charge of Captain Mcintosh, arrived from Southampton and London at 12.40 p.m. to-day and dropped anchor off the Queen's wharf to await inspection by the port medical officer. If she is cleared in time she will berth at the Prince's wharf. She was flying the code flags Q, L, on arrival, indicating sickness on board. The Huddart-Parker liner Wanganella will sail for Sydney at 4 p.m. to-day and is due there on Wednesday morning. The Royal Mail steamer Niagara will arrive from Sydney at 11 a.m. on Monday, sailing at 11 a.m. on Tuesday for Vancouver, via ports. The Union Company's new express passenger liner Awatea will arrive from Wellington at 8 a.m. on Monday and sails at 5 p.m. on Tuesday for Sydney.

H.M.S. Achilles left for Wellington shortly after 11 o'clock this morning. She will be away until December 3. (Naval Dept.)

Yacht Farys, owned by a Polish engineer, arrived from Suva at 2 o'clock this afternoon after a passage of three weeks. (Weber, owner.)
